1 kg of wheat bran on average contains 0,75 sterns, unit, 8,8-9,2 MDzh of metabolizable energy, 151 g of perevarimy protein, 2,0 g of calcium. 9,6 g of phosphorus, etc. Wheat bran is rich with microelements and vitamins of group B. On chemical composition and nutritional value wheat bran it is better, than rye and the more so, than rice.
Wheat bran is good forage for all animal species. They have aperient effect on digestion.
Dairy cows of bran of different look can feed up to 4-6 kg a day. Horses can feed only wheat bran to 30-50% of norm of oats. Pigs and bird use nutrients of bran worse, than other animals.
Bran includes in compound feeds and fodder mixes of diets in quantity: for cattle — to 30-40% (wheat), to 10-20% (rye); for sheep — to 20% (wheat), to 10% (rye); for bird (adult) — to 15%, for young growth of hens from 8-week age, ducks and geese from 4-week age — to 5%; for pigs — to 10-15%, for horses — to 10% and for rabbits — to 15% (on weight).
Bran wheat — the side product of flour-grinding production representing firm hull of grain of wheat. It is valuable forage for all species of farm animals. Nutritiousness of bran depends on the maintenance of mealy particles (the less flour more covers, the are lower nutritiousness), are rich source of vitamins of group B, contain many useful substances, starch, protein and minerals, are excellent source of dietary fiber.
