Sodium benzoate (E211) is preservative of foodstuff. Traditionally it is issued in three commodity forms: in the form of powder, flakes and granules. In 100 g of water at the room temperature 63 g of sodium benzoate are dissolved. Powder is most quicker dissolved, however it very strongly raises dust therefore at its use it is necessary to apply special means of protection. Besides, it is heavy to dose powdery sodium benzoate because of its low flowability. Sodium benzoate is used as preservative in pharmaceutics, by production hygienic and cosmetics, for example, of toothpastes, shampoos, gels. In the tobacco industry sodium benzoate is used for prevention of molding of smoking and chewing grades of tobacco. As inhibitor sodium benzoate is added to cooling liquids of automobile engines.
