The endoterm of XT 150 is delivered in the form of two components: polymer solution in a solventa (component I) and mixes of fire-retarding agents, the thermoextending graphite and fillers (component II). After mixture of components receive the working mix used for formation of a fireproof covering which at influence of high temperatures distends and forms a heat-insulation layer.
In spite of the fact that metal, unlike a tree, does not burn, at influence of fire because of high temperature metal designs lose durability and collapse. At the same time warming up of metal happens because of higher heat conductivity much quicker, than a tree. Therefore ensuring fire protection of a metalwork requires a much bigger expense (thicker layer) of a fireproof covering, than for a tree. It is possible to claim that the tree has higher fire resistance, than metal even if it sounds unusually.
The mechanism of effect of fireproof materials for metal designs consists in increase in time of achievement of temperature at which there comes loss of the bearing ability. Equal 500 °C are considered to be this temperature.
