Zizifus, unabi, yuyuba, jojoba, jujube - all this names of subtropical fruit crop which in China is grown up by already more than five thousand years. From there it got to the Mediterranean and entered culture of the countries adjoining to it. It has also till present the greatest distribution in China (more than 200 thousand hectares) where about four hundred grades are grown up. Occupies the extensive spaces of unabi in India and Pakistan; recently intensively its presence in the USA, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and other southern countries increases. There are industrial landings and in the Crimea. But in Ukraine generally fans actively are engaged in it.
Unabi fruits sourish and sweet or sweet on taste, at separate cultivars reach their sizes 3kh5sm; seedlings yield fruits the size approximately 2kh3sm (as at large sweet cherry). Use them in fresh, smoked and tinned look, and also for production of compotes, jam, marinades, mashed potatoes, candied fruits, widely apply in confectionery, perfumery and pharmaceutical industry.
Dried fruits can remain for year, without losing quality. They contain to 26% of sugars, to 5% of organic acids, 3% of proteins, to 2% of starch, to 5% of fats, large amount of pectinaceous substances, vitamin C and vitamins of other groups, R - active agents, macro - and microelements. Therefore for a long time by unabi it was used as effective remedy for treatment of colds, diseases of liver, kidneys and heart. Zizifus also fine melliferous herb which provides plentiful bribes within two summer months when the bulk of plants faded long ago.
