Detachable (pro-carved) disk mills are applied to slotting direct shliyets, grooves and detachable works in products from steel and ferrous metals. The disk mills used for detachable works call detachable, and very thin disk mills of small diameter serving for slotting grooves and shliyets call pro-carved (shlitsevy). Detachable (pro-carved) mills on metal according to GOST 2679 are made three types: type 1 – with small tooth; type 2 – with average tooth; type 3 – with large tooth. As a rule, detachable mills with small and average tooth use when cutting thin preparations, thin-walled pipes, processings steel and cast iron, and a mill with large tooth – for detachable works, processing of magnesian, aluminum and other light alloys. Pro-carved mills with small and average teeths are intended for slotting superficial shliyets in heads of screws or koronchaty nuts, slotting superficial grooves. Pro-carved mills with large teeths - for slotting deep and narrow grooves and shliyets. Distinctive feature of detachable and pro-carved mills is the arrangement of the cutting edges only in a cylindrical part, i.e. teeths of both end faces of a mill have no cutting edges. Disk detachable (pro-carved) mills are applied on manual and automatic horizontally milling machines. Usually detachable and pro-carved mills fasten on machines by means of a special universal mandrel. On a mandrel the detachable mill holds the account of friction at an inhaling of rings a nut. At hard work (cutting of thick bars, whetstones and thick sheet metal) the detachable mill is put on a spline. Detachable (pro-carved) mills of D = 32 - 250 mm fasten on mandrels diameter of d=8, 10, 13, 16, 22, 27 and 32 mm.
