Principle of operation of the lamellar heat exchanger

Transfer of heat in lamellar heat exchangers is carried out from the hot heat carrier to the cold (heated) environment through steel corrugated plates which are established in a frame and are pulled together in a package. In the course of heat exchange of liquid move towards each other (in a countercurrent). In places of their possible overflowing there is either a steel plate, or double rubber consolidation that practically excludes mixture of liquids.

All plates in a package of the lamellar heat exchanger are identical, are only developed one by one on 180 ° therefore when tightening a package of plates channels on which the liquids participating in heat exchange proceed are formed. Such installation of plates provides alternation of hot and cold channels. The type of goffering of plates and their quantity established in a frame depend on operational requirements to the lamellar heat exchanger.

The used materials:

Material of plates:
high-quality stainless steel of food quality - 1,4401 (AISI 316, 12X18H10T) is standardly applied. On condition of impossibility of use of this steel, on technical characteristics of environments, under the order the following types staly 1,4539 (AISI 904L), 1,4529 (SMO 254), Hastelloy C-276, Titan are applied.

Material of consolidations:
application of consolidations of four main types - NBR, EPDM is standardly possible, Viton-I, Viton-Steam with ranges temperatrur from-30 C to +190 C.

NBR - (nitrile-butyl-rubber) is applied to water solutions, fat environments, sea water, oils, juice, wine, dairy products, ethylene of glycols and others, except steam. Working range is ranging from-20 With to +130 C.

EPDM - (ethylene-propylene-rubber) is applied practical to many water solutions, propylene of glycols, ethanol, solutions of sugar, chemically active agents, calcium chloride, except oils and fats. Working range of temperatures is from-30 With to + 160 C.

Viton-I (Steam) - (the fluorinated rubber) is applied to water solutions, acids, alkalis, glycerin, coffee, to combustible fuel, formaldehydes, diesel fuel, chemically active agents. Main application processes of chemical industry. It is possible to use for steam only Viton-Steam consolidation. Working range of temperatures is from-5 With to + 190 C.
