One of the major conditions providing excellent health, appearance and reproduction of a parrot of any kind is the correctly picked up fodder diet corresponding to needs of birds.
In a native habitat parrots eat mainly semi-ripe seeds. But as owners of exotic birdies have no opportunity to collect seeds in the conditions of the wild Australian nature, feed popugaychik with sterns substitutes. In the course of the domestication these birdies quite adapted to sterns substitutes, consuming which, they receive all necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
The owner needs to know that day norm of a forage for popugaychik of small types – about 20 g of a zernosmesa, averages – 30 g, large – 40–50 g. However the quantity of a forage which will be eaten by a bird depends on her age, health, a physiological state, ambient temperature and many other reasons.
