For performance of different technology operations bridge special cranes equip with traverses - special load gripping devices for work with different types of loads. Traverse represents beam space design removable, as a rule, which is completed with specialized catching devices.
Depending on operating conditions and the characteristic of the moved load traverses subdivide on linear, space, modular, mechanical and special to which magnetic, electromagnetic, frictional and vacuum traverses with the corresponding type of captures belong. Application of captures of different types allows to work with metal rolling, slabs, pipes, lengthy loads and containers.
For alternation of movement of loads of different types the bridge crane can be completed with the additional replaceable traverses of the necessary length equipped with necessary load gripping bodies: the magnets, pincers managed by paws for pickup. At the removed catching devices, using only central or extreme hooks traverses, the bridge crane can work with piece loads in the hook mode.
Traverse fastens to bridge crane or for the central part, or for end longitudinal or cross elements, at the same time itself traverse is located along or across the bridge of the crane. At the same time distinguish designs of bridge crane with flexible or rigid suspension traverses. At flexible suspension traverses the probability of rocking of load is high that limits the traverse speed of the crane and it is unacceptable for a number of technology operations. In that case, apply electronic system of antirocking of load to clearing of possible fluctuations.
At rigid suspension of traverse it is supplied with additional bars with guides therefore the fluctuations arising at the movement along crane runways are minimum, and decide by partial fluctuations of mine and column on load of rather longitudinal axle of the bridge. Rigid suspension traverses at the expense of bigger motion speed allows to provide bigger freght traffic as time of positioning of capture and gearing of load decreases. Bridge cranes with rigid suspension widely apply traverses in metallurgy, by martin, rolling and forge and press production.
Use traverses allows to avoid damage of load when transporting, and also to tilt load in points on the different planes, to reduce hook lifting height, to transport lengthy loads without influence of the squeezing and bending loads, to automate process of strapping of load.
